I've always said the perfect canoe is 5-6 of them. But I don't have the
space to have 5-6 canoes let alone forms around. So I needed to design a
wood canvas boat that would be good for day trips and would paddle solo well
but also be able to carry gear for a week long trip when desired. The Manitowish
16 does this well and for most of us that's all we'll ask of canoe. My
inspiration was the Chestnut Pal with just a bit more capacity.
All the photos of the Manitowish 16 were taken on it's maiden voyage
in Kilarney Provincial Park in Ontario. I'm very pleased to say the canoe
turned out to be everything I'd hoped for and more. For me nothing equals
a wood canvas canoe in the wilderness. While it may be slightly heavier than
some other boats it brings a warmth and pleasure of it's own to a trip unlike
anything else.
